Magic > AI
MJ> Kobe
Bird<LeBron
Barkley<Duncan
Hakeem<Shaq

Of the matchups though - only 1 is a complete walkover (Magic vs AI) - others are competitive.

Overall - I think consensus is A is more "competitive" - Aside from Kobe - is B really driven to want to beat the other side ? B's physical play is somewhat downplayed - aside from LeBron, all the guys on B played in the 90s and played when NBA was still a physical game and not the 3 point dominated game of today.

Need a guard on B who can hit the 3 more reliably and open up spacing on the court - let's say swap AI with Steph Curry. You have a more competitive matchup than people want to admit I think. Benches matter too - A cannot play 48 minutes with B without showing some fatigue - physical play wears on you and opens up the game for runs which keep B in this.

If I had to pick a team of bigger legends - A. But I'd say B is gonna keep this closer than anyone thinks over a 7 game series.

Kobe/LeBron would have been a disaster. A easy. People forget how good Charles was.

Exactly - people look at stats and don’t consider chemistry.

Shaq/Kobe learned to put it aside and managed to win in a relatively weaker few years as the league transitioned. Imagine how bad Lebron/Kobe could have been in their primes with other legends on the team too.

The thing with Charles - as big of a mouth as he had - he managed to keep his ego in check mostly. He could play and do his thing - letting others do theirs. Ditto Bird and Magic too - they didn’t need the ball every damn possession.

Shaq could do it - Duncan could too - but I don’t see AI/Kobe/Lebron jelling at all - pick 1 (I’d say Kobe) and find 2 better fits who could live with a ton of assist on the stat line and occasionally shooting a 3z

I don't know Hakeem did fine against Shaq in the 95 Finals. Of course that was a young Shaq but I think it wouldn't be as big of a mismatch as some might think.

Hakeem managed to contain him - but as mentioned a young Shaq vs a veteran Hakeem.

Also - look at the rosters - Shaq had an equally young Penny. Hakeem had a veteran Drexler and some under rated guys in Horry, Casell and Maxwell. Just a much more veteran Rockets squad with some youth mixed in and better coaching.

The Dream was one dude who wasn't about talking or getting aggressive once his teammates were holding him back. He'd just bust your ass.

Actually always liked the guy in his playing days - long before he became a “star” player.

I remember idolizing him in the late 80s - high school basketball coach HATED the guy. Actually wrote a fan letter and got a response a month later from him and a couple of autos.

He played physical - he’d be suspended constantly in todays league - but hey - there’s one way to win and that’s out score the opposition - if they can’t score - you can score less and win. Not popular with fans -but I’d rather watch him than the clowns that pass for stars in today’s league and their flopping and jawing with no action. Playing Hakeem there was no talking and no need to flop - when he hit you - you hit the ground for real.
