Whats the purpose of the "follow" function ?

There is a notifications bell next to your private messages that should update when a reply is made to a thread you're following or if a user interacts with your post. We'll do some testing of the notifications bell to ensure it is working as expected.

Also, there are email notifications but the email server is being upgraded following the recent site maintenance to restore this functionality.

Yes, i really like this notification bell function.
auto-watching threads i post in. etc. and able to configure it as well.

BUT, it dosent seem to notify bell at all... when Following users, whenever they start a thread/ make a post, that i havent yet seen/ posted in.

PS: a mobile push notification would be nice, but i guess the email notify could suffice.

Are you absolutely certain you have it set to auto in settings?

Personally I don't like it set on auto because I don't want to follow every thread

I agree it does not do anything.

He is referring to, hover over a posters avatar, and on the pop up, click follow.

I would think you should get alerts every time that poster posts, starts a new thread etc. ...

bingo...

and yes i'm absolutely sure i have it set to auto. its not about watching every single thread.
and theres no option for alert when someone u follow posts.

this should be a feature tho ...

i mean i absolutely love this whole setup with live alert system.. but its lacking the alerts i just mentioned. that would be perfect.
