First - any reputable business has this thing called INSURANCE that defends them in the event of a lawsuit. Assuming like most of these cases the suit was filed by some large firm who literally pays a “researcher” $18 an hour to search the web for “violations” of laws like this and then files a suit - alleging violations demanding something like 100k - but offering to settle immediately knowing it will cost 75-150k easily to defend the action.
Secondly - it’s no secret that bars/restaurants are getting crushed between a shit economy - no one wanting to work and higher prices. Of course saying we are going out of business because we over extended ourselves when COVID killed us while we took millions in bail outs and pocketed them doesn’t sound as catchy as saying “we lost our business to ladies night”.
Bars/restaurants fail daily - just another reason why there is a HUGE profit margin in these places because the risk is huge. Of course why not try and “ Blame the left” because you’re surrounded by them in your feces covered streets in SF.
