I mean I've done them before but I have no idea how they work and my buddies put me in charge of bringing a pool, since I'm the bettor of the bunch. Where do I get one? Are there different kinds? I've always done the ones where you choose a number and it's just luck. Are there different kinds where we can bet on different things? Are there ones that aren't so random luck? Can you include prop bets in pools? I guess I'm looking for different ones so we can choose which one to play.

Pro Tip - If you’re going to or having a party, double up the numbers because you’ll never fill 100 squares, now you only need 25. And raise the stakes, like $20, $25, $50, or $100 a square. Also, make the payouts quarterly. Trust me, EVERYONE gets a lot more invested this way, even the females. Here’s my template from last year - I’m making one for this year as we speak.

Good Luck!

Keep in mind some folks that aren’t gamblers are weird about losing money. It can totally change their attitude. Even if it’s relative pocket change to us regular bettors. You’d hate to have it ruin someone’s time even if it’s just $20 or $30 bucks they’re losing.

Might want to come up with something where people can’t lose much or anything and there are just a few prizes you get for the few winners.

I remember my gf freaked a little but when I took her to the Wynn and popped a C-Note into a dollar slot so she could play a little bit. She’s not a gambler obviously

Should’ve added - if somebody’s going to throw a $#!T-fit over losing $20 or $25 bucks - ban those losers from your party.

Also, when we ‘draw’ the numbers for the pool, we get a deck of cards & pull out Ace through 10 (obviously, 10 is zero, Ace is 1, everything else is everything else). Mix them up, and everyone that’s in the pool gets to pick a card. Write in the numbers left to right, then do it again and go up to down. That way, everyone was involved in picking the numbers and nobody can cry cheating or not fair…..

Good Luck!!!!!

HA! Just remembered, last year we did $25 a square, I think we did $100 for the quarters, $175 for the half, so the game was $250. My buddy’s 8 year old daughter’s birthday is the week before, so she had $25 and wanted to buy 1 square - of course she has KC - 8, Philly - 5 and wins the whole thing. He texted me last night that that’s all she’s been talking about all week, and is all jazzed about the pool tomorrow - even more than seeing Taylor Swift!

Yea so whats the difference between paying out quarterly and paying out at the end.... In terms of the logistics... Is it the same thing regarding the numbers and you just pay out using the same numbers or do odds change or what....not sure why I can't wrap my head around this shit lol

OK so I understand it just matters per square and then you determine when to pay out but nothing else changes..

That kind of makes sense...so each square has 2 numbers instead of one..... And you win with the last number of the score. OK, I think I get it. I'm going to try this

Sometimes we’ll do half and then game, but quarters seems more fun - plus there’s (usually) not just one person taking home most of it at the end. I remember my dad & I at his VFW he used to hang out at would play $100 a square 100 squares - and they would play ‘benders’ where any square touching the winning square each quarter got their $100 back and the payouts for each quarter were a percentage at the end with whatever was remaining…..

Crazy…..

Good Luck! Let us know how it goes…..

OK so it's just a matter of splitting up the pool of money but nothing else changes. Interesting. Yea these guys will want to get paid out quarterly and final...if everyone has the same amount of squares, you don't necessarily have to buy per square but divide buy in so to speak by the amount of squares that everyone has.... Some squares will be empty though lol this shit is complicated

You can’t have empty squares! People can always share squares too. Easiest way would be $20 a square (everybody carries 20’s, and you’re not dealing with a whole bunch of singles). + 25 squares is $500:

1st & 3rd quarters = $75
Half = $150
Game = $200

Or make it $10 a square and cut all that in half - but $20 seems the easiest…..

Good Luck!
