Knew that was coming
In his defense, you can only do so much with the talent you have or lack
Years ago when top Florida talent was staying in the state and the Gators, Seminoles, and Hurricanes were dominating, there was still enough talent left over for South Florida and UCF
That's not the case anymore until the trend changes again and the kids start staying home
Fair take but they do have 12 dudes in the NFL...the cupboard isn't bare.
Here's my thoughts on what happened.
They had a bitch President Judy something (while playing in the Big East) that blocked their rival UCF from joining. This is like 2 years after USF was literally #2 in Country. CBS i think offered up a record sports contract to Big East but it was contingent upon UCF joining the conference. The bitch blocked the move citing their rivalry & recruiting footprint.
The Big East then folded more or less.
Enter Leavitt era, and he gets b2b top top 25 recruiting classes. Then gets fired by that bitch because an assistant lied about some hazing incident involving a player
Then you got Covid...which allowed all of USF current competition to retain good college players w no nfl future for another year...so a program looking to rebuild with youth faced a schedule of teams loaded w 5th & 6th year seniors... it's like facing BYU every week w a roster of 25 year old men.
