What exactly does line movement mean?

I thought it was square money moves a fave higher if the bets are on the fav so that the books get the higher # because the squares will bet the fave no matter the line to a certain extent.

Smart money moves public money dominated bets in the opposite direction. For example Maryland is a 3.5 dog. But moves to +2.5 even though the public money is on Ohio State as the fave.

Injuries move lines. What else?

Speculation moves lines as well, there’s no rhyme or reason to accurately assess when to bet steam or when to fade steam. That’s just my opinion on it so I’m probably the wrong person to ask, but this is what I’ve come to somewhat of conclusion of with my experience the last 20+ years.
