I just don't think the teams paying the 12% luxury tax for exceeding the max salary threshold by $20 million to $40 million is enough to keep MLB on level playing ground.

The Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers have just too much money to throw around making the penalty irrelevant. They need a hard cap but the players will never go for that. We're just screwed to having the richest teams buy championships.
