Time to get back to my roots for a while

Around Thanksgiving week every year, I start thinking back to the good old days. The true glory days of our forums and the sports books.

Think I’ve reached a point where I’ve had it with everything. Done well with the US online sports books and casinos, but it’s time for a change.

I miss the shady credit card deposits and money transfers. Even if I have to pay a fee for a withdrawl, it still means more coming from some fake shell company than right from a legit US book. Yes, buying thousands of dollars worth of flowers in Dubai and Nigeria surely happened!

I want the 12x rollovers again where we can spin it up big. Some free half points and sports schedules sent in the mail. That’s when I worked hard at all this and it would pay off.

And the new regimes of some sports betting forums have become pretty blah. They are all just sucking up to these publicly-traded bean-counting gaming companies. We may have had drama once in a while with an offshore book, but at least there weren’t entry-level weenies trying to act like they know something.

Those were some dark days, fly! But that meal with JJ changed my whole life for the better. Went on to great things with SBR’s crew from there.

Was fall of 2009 when I first started working for SBR. Still remember all that well. We met at Tick Tock.

Then another time in April 2010 we met at the Meadowlands. Ironically, that was the day Weitzner’s death was announced when we got home.

Sad that Tick Tock isn’t even open 24 hours anymore. Really not the same place it used to be.

Not sure about this one, I just know the man to be a huge part of SBR and their success but he is famous for stiffing JJ at lunch , claiming his wallet was in his car. He held it down for years at SBR, he is loving family man, friend to many and a hero poster. He must be respected.
