A group at my former company interviewed a girl for a engineering position in a corporate setting., you know, white shirts, ties,etc... She had a nose piercing (no big deal) and a piercing in her tongue (gold ball). She was an awesome candidate and her piercing didn't matter to me.
The team got together to discuss making an offer and the interview team lead couldn't get over her tongue piercing (he was a devout Southern Baptist - real conservative type). Everyone was a yes vote except him. He felt it wasn't a good "cultural" fit --> no offer.
The candidate is probably an executive at a competitor by now. SMH.
Piercing are body art just like tattoos. Get creative.
