So ordered dinner the other night via DoorDash - it was snowing pretty good and just me at home - so decided to dash it and skip the drive into town.

Of course the driveway/sidewalk not cleared as it was coming down pretty good - and no way in hell I was risking another heart attack going out shoveling it.

Didn’t notice the other night - but walked out with trash for pickup this morning to see someone had left me this “message”

If this is a joke it’s funny as hell

If it’s not it’s disturbing as hell.

Did you not tip enough?

Tip $3 - on a $12 order for 4 miles on a grab and go order I felt that was fair.

Some of these DoorDash drivers are comical - had one dipshit park his car in the main road just beyond a blind hill at night to walk through my yard to deliver. This was AFTER turning down the side street and around in my driveway.

A bad accident waiting to happen - and why the hell walk through 6” of snow for 300’ when you could just drive up the plowed drive and drop the bag and drive off ?

I’ve become a bigger tipper since my financial situation has gotten better

I keep $100 worth of $5 bills in my wallet and $10 worth of $1s

There are a few places, and one I go to twice a week, where I get a $10 lunch special tea included. Always get the same waitress and tip her $5 or $6 cash

if my meal is $25 range tip two of the $5’s

Been tipping the DoorDash folks a couple of dollars more than I used to as well

makes me feel good

Places I go regularly in person I tend to tip well.

DoorDash / delivery - I tip but typically 10-15%.

I feel for some of these people - as I recognize the apps pay jack shit - but at the same time why is it MY responsibility to subsidize their employer (whose service I pay for) and their choices.

Most people who do this are either just tying to make a few extra bucks - or are otherwise highly limited in their employment options. I feel bad for someone for example who has child care needs that can’t be met while they go to a traditional job - but your life choices/your responsibility. Would you tip less of you found out the dasher was say a gambling addict living off a trust fund and just dashed to get money to gamble with because their wife controlled the purse strings ? My philosophy is simple - everyone gets 10-15% - regardless of their backstory. A little more if it’s say a place where I know they are going to have to stand around and wait on my order - or if service goes above/beyond. When I’ve waited an hour on my stuff because they did 3 other orders for another app/forgot condiments or didn’t deliver to the door I asked it be brought to - your getting what I initially tipped.

Probably risked another heart attack by ordering anything from door dash, but yeah the driver wasn't a fan of your snow

Like I have said - that’s the great thing about these apps - no one is FORCING you to do jack.

Weather shitty and don’t want to go out in it - stay home. It’s not like your “scheduled” to DoorDash and get in trouble for calling off - just don’t log on.

Of course less dashers - more deliveries and more money. A lot want it both ways - more money and easier work - it doesn’t work like that.

Actually went healthy that night too - local coop kitchen. All fresh stuff and basically small business/food trucks on a rotating weekend basis. No way in hell I’d be doing McDs or some crap - occasionally Wendy’s chili which is bad enough - but that’s extent of my fast food dining.
