I actually have gotten a scam alert from EZ pass recently by email. Like you say I wouldn't think it's so hard to track these people down.
I also got a phone call from 231 area code this morning thinking it was from Michigan. Nope it turns out call was from Liberia (Africa).

It's like trying to combat 'illegal bookmakers'. It just doesn't work. Have to target tech companies making these things possible (like DOJ targeted banks and Western Union to disable deposits to Costa Rica sportsbooks back in the day)

Said I was issued a ticket on the Pennsylvania turnpike and was overdue.

I laughed. I haven't taken the turnpike in two years.
