OK... I'll admit it. In the 1990s when I was younger, I was glued to my TV every Sunday for Nascar. I'm not a red-neck but there were a group of us who would get a pony keg and sit on the back porch watching races. Great fun.
I've even been to a couple races: Bristol, Vegas, Texas,...
I lost interest when more and more rules changes became part of the system and historical tracks were cut and then completely stopped watching when Jimmy Johnson took over the sport and won like 5 titles in row starting 2005. It just pissed me off that, inspite of all the new rules, Johnson and Knaus still found ways to cheat (well not officially cheating but bending the rules).
Also, when they stopped the beating and banging on the track and off the track (loved pit fights), it became too conservtive and controlled.
Hardly ever watch now.
