A guy who always gave 100% effort.

A guy who only cared about winning, not stats.

A guy who was classy from the very beginning to the very end.

A guy who never used PEDs to get the stats/money he wanted.

You have to admit coach, that Jeter was irreplaceable on that team though. Totally integral.

Could easily argue Ichiro checked every one of those boxes.

Great player - but I think there will more in that tradition.

One could argue anyone playing baseball over basketball/football does so for love of the game. Not a hard sport if your athletic - but the grind day to day and the fact other sports give the opportunity to be a star.

I don't think so, coach. Jeter was magic. He was special. Everything he did had a magical element to it.

His 3,000th hit was a home run

He was very unique.
