First of all, I don't answer my phone unless the number is in my Contacts list. Most scammers don't leave a message on Voicemail. I also don't have my name on my Voicemail message just for this reason.
Recently, I have been getting some scammers to leave voicemails saying I have a civil suit against me in my county (they don't mention which county). They do use my correct first and last name though.
They say they are from "The Claims Processing Division" or "pre-litigation summons complaint division" or some other such vague department name yet don't even say the name of their company.
The person gives their name, phone number and extension. The Caller ID number is different than the number given to me to call and it's not even in my state.
On a couple occasions they even give the case number. So I went out on my county's civil case search website to search for the case number. The number they give me isn't even in the same format as civil case numbers listed on the county website.
Here is a website link to one such scammer:
Don't fall for it and don't call them and don't be nervous that someone has a civil complaint against you!
