Congrats to LeBron James for becoming the NBA’s all-time scoring leader. One problem, his team still stinks. Aaron Rodgers is going away, unfortunately not for good in many people's eyes. We also have news on Kyrie Irving and Derek Carr and our top trends, free picks, and betting system.
Starting Thursday the Waste Management Phoenix Open is in Scottsdale and there is no bigger party on a golf course than this tournament.
There is a new king in the NBA when it comes to scoring and it is King LeBron James, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. While James has his detractors, his accomplishments rank him among a very select few as the best in the sport.
Among the easiest prop bets of the season was James Over 32.5 points, which was wrapped up in the third quarter.
Also, not unexpectedly, the Lakers are so bad defensively that Oklahoma City won as 6.5-point underdogs over the King on his court.
Sometimes we get why bettors hate the NBA. On Sunday, Denver, who has the best record in Western Conference, one game behind Boston, didn’t suit up four starters in Minnesota because of “injuries”. Nuggets bettors were left with losing tickets at whatever price in a 30-point blowout.
Two days later at Mile High, all four Denver players made a ‘remarkable’ recovery in 48 hours and were able to play as the Nuggets destroyed the same Timberwolves by 34. When you are among the best teams in the sport, should you have some consideration for the fans to at least try to win?
On Tuesday night, various teams with the label – You Never Know What You Will Get – were in action.
Connecticut was the No. 1 in the country in late December and had gone 4-6 since. Last evening they buried Marquette at home 87-72 as a 4.5-point home favorite. That knocked the Golden Eagles out of first place in the Big East and gave Huskies fans hope for the future.
Preseason No.1 North Carolina trailed 47-25 at Wake Forest in a game that was a Pick. The Tar Heels are 16-9 and clearly on the bubble.
Dayton has been an awful road team all year at 3-8 SU and ATS and all they did was go to first place VCU and upset them 62-58.
Lastly, Kentucky was sort of getting back in the good graces of their fans and basketball bettors. Skip that as they were dreadful in an embarrassing 88-73 home loss to Arkansas as a five-point fave.
Make sure to follow our daily Super Bowl 57 coverage as we have 20+ articles published thus far and the latest are skill position breakdowns, parlay wagers, and betting strategy!
Tonight, ESPN has the 76ers vs. Celtics and later the Mavericks vs. Clippers. Plus, we have other betting articles and free picks that will interest you. On Thursday, TNT has the spotlight with the Bulls vs. the revamped Nets and Bucks vs. Lakers.
Wednesday offers several fascinating matchups like Florida vs. Alabama (ESPN2), Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt (SECN), and Iowa State vs. West Virginia (ESPN2). Return Thursday for our Best Bets and Iowa vs. No. 1 Purdue (ESPN2).
There are just two tilts on the Hump Day docket and TNT has one of them, the Wild vs. Stars. The next day Tampa Bay tries to end a two-game skid when they host Colorado on ESPN. Additionally, we’ll have both free best bets.
Aaron Rodgers learned well how to create drama out of nothing from his Packers predecessor Brett Favre. Rodgers hasn’t told Green Bay his intentions for next season but has told the world he’s going on a darkness retreat to find answers.
This writer still has plenty of Wisconsin connections from when he lived there and I can tell you the vast majority want to move on from Rodgers's continual drama, even if Jordan Love is half the QB Rodgers is.
Now that Irving was traded to Dallas he shared with us he felt “disrespected” at times by Brooklyn management. This was by a player who needed time off during the season because he had “things to do” and any number of on-court and off-court issues. The Mavericks can now enjoy his company.
Derek Carr’s name has bubbled up in going to New Orleans, who has talent on both sides of the ball.
With how the Raiders discarded him, Carr could refuse a trade there, even if he wants to go, wait until a week from today and collect 40 million from his former team and sign a new deal with the Saints. Keep an eye on this one.
Renowned gambler Billy Walters is releasing a book, which is not available until August, but he’s already drumming up the buzz and has a lot to say which you can look for.
Play On on Underdogs of 10 to 19.5 points like Florida after going under the total by 42 or more total points in their last five games, a marginal winning team (51% to 60%), playing a winning team. Teams like the Gators are 36-12 ATS in this spot since 2018.
Having worked in the golf business for over 25 years and attending several tournaments including a few majors, I can tell you there is nothing like the Phoenix Open. It is rowdy, fun, and a people-watching event and there is golf also. Here is a taste of it.
Because of changes in the PGA Tour, they have 18 of the top 20 players in this year’s field which is arguably their best-ever field. Here are the current betting odds, which will vary by US betting site.

In the NBA tonight, Utah completes their five-game homestand looking to finish with a winning record when they host Minnesota. Utah is below .500 for the first time this season at 28-29 and is a 5.5-point favorite. The betting public (tickets) is backing Utah at a 57% clip as of 02:30 PM EST.
The Timberwolves are off a 34-point loss at Denver last evening, which was a bad way to start a four-game road trip, yet, 67% of the money is on the visitor. What side would you choose?
Let’s get some winners! See you back here Friday.
