Some official bids for NCAA Basketball have been determined and lots more will follow all week as we get ready for a super fun week of college hoops. The Memphis Grizzlies had a hard few days, some of their own doing as we explain. This along with NBA news from the weekend, the current state of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and more!
About Last Weekend…
NCAAB
It is only Monday, but five teams are already in the NCAA Tournament: Drake, Fairleigh Dickinson, Kennesaw State, Southeast Missouri State, and UNC Asheville. Over the next couple of days, more will be added and then things really get rolling with loads of betting opportunities. The first noticeable casualty was in the Big Sky Conference, where top-seeded Eastern Washington lost to No. 8 Northern Arizona in the quarterfinals on a buzzer-beater.
Eastern Washington was 16-0 in the conference but lost their last three games. Watch the Eagles’ first game betting odds in whatever minor tournament they end up in, they could be a quick exit.
NBA
Golden State was so impressive in putting together a 5-0 SU and ATS homestand. It appeared the Warriors had found a rhythm even without Steph Curry. Instead, Golden State goes to play the Lakers without LeBron and falls 113-105 as five-point away favorites to tumble to 7-24 and 9-22 ATS on the road. Thanks to an amazing 48-31 4th quarter on Saturday night, Philadelphia snapped Milwaukee’s 16-game winning streak. A lot of times teams have a letdown after having their streak broken, but the Bucks went to Washington the next night and upended the Wizards 117-110 as a six-point favorite.
Great drama in Dallas yesterday, as Kevin Durant and Devin Booker held off Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving 130-126. Luka and Booker got into a chin-to-chin discussion that was fun.
NHL
Losing 6-0 at Carolina Sunday, Tampa Bay’s defense is in shambles. The Lightning has lost five in a row, permitting an unthinkable 27 goals in the losing streak. Maybe it’s a blip for the team that has been to three straight Stanley Cup Finals, winning twice, but still, this is alarming.

NFL – Combine News
Nobody made a bigger impression at the Combine than QB Anthony Richardson. He did everything possible and his odds of being the first player taken have dropped considerably. Some say that Josh Allen was very similar and look how that turned out. That’s not apples to apples because Allen basically played three seasons at Wyoming and was brilliant his junior year with a lot of playmakers around him. Those players graduated for his senior year and his stock decreased.
Richardson completed 53% of his passes in his one year as starting QB. Still, you only need one NFL team to like you, right Mitch Trubisky?
NBA – Memphis Grizzlies Need a Babysitter
The Memphis Grizzlies looked like a team really on the rise over the last couple of years. Though still having the second-best record in the Western Conference, something has been off this season. The lack of toughness on the road at 12-20 and 11-19-2 ATS and not having center Steven Adams since Jan. 22 has mattered. Plus, Desmond Bane being a cheap shot artist, is now widely known. Over the weekend Brandon Clarke blew out his left Achilles and Ja Morant was shown brandishing a gun on his Instagram Live video account and was suspended.
This is the team that needs to grow up unless being on highlight shows and securing big contracts is good enough for them.
Top Betting System
NCAAB – San Francisco (+14) vs. Gonzaga
In the second West Coast Conference semi-final, Play On neutral court teams like San Francisco, scoring 74-78 PPG, against an average defensive team (67-74 PPG) after 15+ games, after playing a game where both teams score 80 points or more.Since 2018, teams like the Dons are 24-5 ATS in this spot and Gonzaga is likely looking ahead to facing St. Mary’s in the season rubber match.
Out the Door
NCAAB – Conference Tournament Time
Let the Madness begin. Though the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament is so awesome, this week is also great because of the volume of games and unexpected upsets. Put that seat in the upright position because the ride could be bumpy this week.If you are making college basketball picks this week, think of each win like an NFL wager. Don’t sweat it if it’s closer than you anticipated, just appreciate and enjoy every win, you will have earned it.
