It was our first weekend without football in a while, yet, we all survived. Kyrie Irving is moving again and who knows how that will play out. We talk about what it means for both Dallas and Brooklyn.

Aaron Rodgers won the Pro-Am part of the Pebble Beach Open and rumors are growing he will join Davante Adams in Las Vegas wearing the Black and Silver. Manchester City is in deep water in the Premier League and LeBron can do what seemed impossible on Tuesday night.

About Last Weekend…

NBA

Name one person who thought James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving would lead to a championship for Brooklyn. (Front office personnel from the Nets are excluded.)

Irving, as he has stated, considers NBA basketball a “job” like any other and wanted a max deal despite missing a lot of time for injury and several other off-the-field stuff. Brooklyn was only too happy to get rid of him and Dallas thought he was worth the risk, sitting in 6th in the West, but only a few games from the third spot.

It seems highly questionable this will work because the Mavericks have other holes and they removed two key role players in Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie. And what about Brooklyn, who starts today in 4th in the East, but are they going to try to assemble a team around a 34-year-old injury-prone Kevin Durant?

Pro Bowl

For those in Las Vegas at some of the events, we are told they were fun and it was a great experience.

Some players thought it was fun and they liked the flag football game and actually gave effort in those ‘contests’. However, on television, it felt like a made-for-TV product, which it was, trying to be pushed on as something that mattered.

NCAAB

On Saturday, seven ranked teams lost, though four lost to other ranked clubs, with the lower-ranked outfit winning each time. With no great teams this season, March Madness might be even more unpredictable.

Trendy Talk

Super Bowl
  • Kansas City is 0-7 ATS after one or more wins against the spread this season.
  • Philadelphia is 0-6 ATS in away games off two or more consecutive Unders.
  • Kansas City is 9-2 Under after two or more consecutive wins this season.
  • Philadelphia is 6-0 Over after covering the spread in two out of their last three games this season.
NBA
  • Oklahoma City is 16-5 ATS as a road underdog.
  • Sacramento is 18-5 ATS after one or more Overs.
  • Detroit is 1-16 ATS revenging a same-season loss.
  • Boston is 19-5 Under when playing with two days rest since last year.
  • L.A. Clippers are 19-8 Under when the total is 220 to 229.5.
NCAAB

What to Watch For and Win (Hopefully)

Super Bowl

Make sure to follow our daily Super Bowl 57 coverage every day, we have 16 various articles from last week. For Monday and Tuesday, we’ve added odds, analysis, and what to look for 1st quarter and halftime wagering plus other betting thoughts.

NBA

Let’s start the week looking at the Clippers vs. remade Nets and the Bucks vs. Trail Blazers. On Tuesday TNT, the Suns are at the Nets and it’s the Thunder vs. Lakers among our four games with free picks.

NCAAB

There are two excellent battles on ESPN Monday with Duke vs. Miami followed by Texas vs. Kansas. Looking ahead to Tuesday, we have five games highlighted by Marquette vs. Connecticut (FS1) and Rutgers vs. Indiana (BTN).

NHL

The NHL returns on Monday and we have the best NHL picks and props, with the same applying to the next day.

The Buzz

NBA – LeBron James Chases Scoring Record

LeBron is 36 points from tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time points record. Tuesday night, LeBron and the Lakers host Oklahoma City. We have yet to see a scoring prop on James for this game, but since he is averaging 30 PPG, that will be the floor on a prop.

Knowing James’ flair for the dramatic, even at 38, the game in L.A. and LeBron on two days rest, even if the prop is 36.5, you know his teammates will do everything possible for him to break the record. It sure seems the Over is the right play against the NBA odds.

Soccer

Manchester City in hot water is a developing story, this is what we know as of today.

Golf/NFL

Aaron Rodgers wins Pebble Beach Pro-Am Event, is Las Vegas his next destination?

Top Betting System

NBA – Kings (-5.5) vs. Rockets

Play on road favorites like Sacramento after being beaten by the spread by 30 or more points total in their last three games, against an opponent after going over the total by 24 or more points total in their last three games. Since 2018, teams like Sac-Town are 30-5 ATS, winning by 15.2 PPG.

Out the Door

NBA – Dallas Mavericks Betting Odds on the Move (To Win NBA Title)
  • +2500 - Before Kyrie Trade
  • +1200 - Immediately After Trade
  • +1400 - Monday Morning at Bovada (visit our Bovada Review)

That places Dallas 5th in the Western Conference behind Denver, L.A. Clippers, Golden State, and Memphis (in order of lowest betting odds). Remember, only twice in the history of the NBA has a team finished outside the Top 3 in either conference and won an NBA title (and even those two came with caveats).

Super Bowl – The Tide Is Shifting

Remember last Monday when everyone was talking about the Eagles winning and covering the Super Bowl at -2.5?

A week later the Chiefs are down to +1.5 and a little over 55% of the money is on them and they are hovering at just below 50% on bets placed. This looks like a moneyline play on whatever side you like.

NCAAB – Best College Basketball Teams Against the Spread This Season

  • Marquette 17-7 ATS
  • FAU 16-5-1 ATS
  • Montana St. 16-6-1 ATS
  • Pittsburgh 16-6-1 ATS
  • Kennesaw St. 16-6 ATS
  • Cincinnati 16-7 ATS
  • Maryland 16-7 ATS
  • Providence 15-6-1 ATS
  • Kansas State 15-8 ATS
Super Bowl Fodder – There Will Be More

  • Kansas City is 8-11 ATS on the season. They are the 6th team to reach the Super Bowl with a losing ATS record. And the previous five teams went 1-4 SU and 1-4 ATS in the Super Bowl. (Thanks to @ESPNStatsInfo)
  • Philadelphia is currently a -125 moneyline favorite at most US betting sites over Kansas City and the favorite is 36-20 in the Super Bowl.
  • For Super Bowl 57, the Chiefs will wear white and the Eagles will wear green jerseys. For what it is worth, the team wearing white has won 15 of the last 18 big games.
  • There have been six previous quarterbacks that made the Super Bowl after leading the NFL in passing that season. Each lost the Big Game. Will Patrick Mahomes be the next victim?
  • The winning team has not trailed in the first quarter of the last dozen games.
  • The shortest touchdown was Under 1.5 yds in 6 of the 7 contests.

Who Is Right?

On ESPN tonight at 09:00 PM EST, we have another excellent Big 12 battle with Texas at Kansas. The Longhorns with their come-from-behind victory at Kansas State have taken over 1st place in the Big 12.

The Jayhawks’ offense looked terrible (again), and with that, the total slid from 147.5 to 146. At 02:30 PM EST today, a little over 50% of the bets placed are on the Under, yet, 80% of the money is backing the Over. This is a tricky one, what do you think?

Let’s get some winners! See you back here Wednesday.
