With New York having legalized gambling, New York Jets fans pounded their team to win the Super Bowl with the speculation their team “could” trade for Aaron Rodgers as we explain.

We also discuss Lamar Jackson who is a hot topic along with what occurred on Tuesday night for bettors. This and the top trends, free picks, and where the betting markets are trending today.

About Last Night…

NCAAB

While it would have taken some “onions” (Bill Raftery reference) to back Oral Roberts at -10.5 over No. Dakota State truly was an easy wager in the Summit title game. The Bison had upset their chief rival South Dakota State the night before and ORU jumped on them from the opening tip and buried them 92-58.

What made that hard was Oral Roberts had failed to cover their previous eight games and was 0-7 ATS as a double-digit favorite until yesterday.

There was one more rarity from the Summit League championship.

Besides Oral Roberts, Charleston, Northern Kentucky, and Gonzaga all advanced to the Big Dance.

Fairleigh Dickinson was already in just by reaching the championship game because Merrimack, who actually won the Northeast Conference regular season and tournament, was not eligible. Because the Warriors are in the final year of a four-year transition from Division II to Division I, they are ineligible for the NCAA tournament. Four years!

NBA

Not unexpectedly, Dallas failed to cover at home against Utah, winning 120-116 as 11-point favorites. However, Luka and Kyrie made Mavs history.

The New York Knicks’ nine-game win streak came to a crashing halt, outscored by 21 points in the second half at home by Charlotte, losing 112-105 as 10-point favorites. The Knicks were visibly frustrated when the lead began to disappear and maybe that double OT thriller Sunday with Boston sapped their legs.

NHL

As we talked about Monday, Tampa Bay was on a five-game skid. Last night, they were -115 on the puck line against Philadelphia, which felt dicey, but the Lightning broke through with a 5-2 victory.

Colorado also ended their three-game slide, slamming the Sharks 6-0 as -145 puck line faves. This also happened in the Avs victory.

Trendy Talk

NBA

  • L.A. Clippers are 2-16 ATS when playing with two days rest.
  • Dallas is 6-20 ATS when playing against a team with a losing record this season.
  • Boston is 13-2 ATS having lost 4 of their last 5 games since 2020.
  • Oklahoma City is 20-5 Over after 2 or more consecutive overs this season.

NCAAB

  • Georgia is 2-14 ATS after three consecutive conference games this season.
  • Virginia Tech is 2-14 ATS after playing three straight games as a favorite.
  • Utah is 0-7 ATS in away games revenging a loss where the opponent scored 75 or more points.

  • Chicago is 11-3 Over after allowing one goal or less in their previous game.

What to Watch For and Win (Hopefully)

NBA

The Mavericks vs. Pelicans contest is an intriguing matchup along with the Raptors vs. Clippers, which are both on ESPN.

Thursday on TNT, the bumbling less-than-road Warriors are at the Grizzlies, plus, the Knicks vs. Kings. This and other top plays and prop picks.

NCAAB

It is Championship Week and all you need to do is look at all the televised games available for you the next two days and go right to our college basketball picks and learn what our experts are thinking. It’s that simple.

NHL

Watch for our daily free NHL picks and props for both Wednesday and Thursday.

Golf

This week is the prestigious 2023 Players Championship from Sawgrass and we break down the field and offer our best bets.

MLB

We are gearing up for another great season of baseball and we already have a vast amount of betting previews for the upcoming campaign at the MLB picks.

The Buzz

NFL – Everybody Is a Jets Fan!

With the news that the New York Jets are meeting with Aaron Rodgers, the Flyboys Super Bowl odds dropped from 25-1 to below 10-1 at sportsbooks around the world. This was on the notion this could happen, as it is not official.

Golf – Tiger Woods Former Girlfriend Not Happy

NFL – Lamar Jackson vs. Daniel Jones

By almost any measurement, Lamar Jackson is a better quarterback than Daniel Jones. Nevertheless, Jones made a big jump this season in terms of improvement and next season he will likely have a better offensive line and receivers.

Jackson, at least in my opinion, has not gotten better. He's missed 10 games the past two seasons with his more risky style of play. Has Baltimore improved as a team and surrounded Jackson with better offensive players than a few years ago? No. If Jackson wants Deshaun Watson's money, let’s see who would pay it or how close he will get.

Top Betting System

NCAAB – Miami (OH) vs. Toledo (-12.5) / Thursday, March 9

Play against an underdog like Miami-O after beating the spread by 48 or more points total in their last ten games, against an opponent after beating the spread by 48 or more points total in their last seven games. In the past five seasons, teams like the Redhawks’ are an undesirable 5-26 ATS.

Out the Door

NHL – Florida Panthers Are Unique

The Florida Panthers lead the NHL this season in both shots on goal (36.7) and penalty minutes (12:07) per game. The last NHL team to lead the league in both categories in the same season was the 1981-82 Philadelphia Flyers. (Thanks Opta Stats)

NCAAB – March Madness Coaching Carousel

Besides great and exciting basketball, coaching jobs need to be filled and rumors and shake-ups occur. We are hearing disgraced Chris Beard is a prime candidate for the Ole Miss job.

NBA – Shooting

If you think scoring is more important than defense in the NBA these days, here is more proof.
