It is hard to fathom that Giannis Antetokounmpo keeps getting better and right now, he’s in the zone as I explain.

How many college basketball teams are still undefeated in conference play? We have the answer after Florida Atlantic was defeated last night. There is going to be more fantastic college hoops action all weekend and we tell you where the important games you might want to wager on are at. This plus trends, our Super System and what side of a game would you be on?

About Last Night…

NBA

Cleveland knocked off Memphis 128-113 as 6.5-point home favorites but there was more to the story. Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell and Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks were ejected after a third-quarter scuffle, that was all on Brooks. Here is the video. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/35579524/cavs-mitchell-grizzlies-brooks-ejected-scuffle

The Clippers got the cover in Milwaukee but should have won the game also. Los Angeles had a nine-point lead going into the fourth quarter but Giannis Antetokounmpo would not have it and scored 54 points in the Bucks’ 106-105 come-from-behind win. It’s not like the Clips did have a chance to win either, as Milwaukee had two turnovers in the final 32 seconds, but Kawhi Leonard missed two shots and the Bucks escaped.

NCAAB

Though it was not an upset, it was noteworthy that UAB (-2.5) knocked off No. 19 Florida Atlantic 86-77. That was just the Owls' second loss of the season and first in Conference USA. Prior to last night FAU had won 20 in a row and is now 21-2 and 15-6 ATS.

With Eastern Washington (Big Sky) and St. Mary’s (WCC) winning Thursday, they are two of five teams without a conference loss as we head into the first weekend of February. The others are Alabama (SEC), Oral Roberts (Summit), and Colgate (Patriot).

Trendy Talk

  • Phoenix is 1-10 ATS on Friday nights this season. (Just an oddity).
  • Washington is 17-3 Over in home games versus teams forcing 13 or fewer turnovers a game.
NCAAB
  • Boise St. is 8-0 ATS after allowing 55 points or less this season.
  • Kent St.. is 9-1 ATS playing against a team with a winning record this campaign.
  • Air Force is 13-2 ATS after playing a game where both teams scored 65 points or less.

The Buzz

NCAAF – Saban After Notre Dame Play-Caller

Alabama and Nick Saban have targeted Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees to take over the same position in Tuscaloosa. Hard to imagine Rees doesn’t take the job with the pay bump. If he does leave, curiously, why didn't he go to the SEC the year prior with Brian Kelly at LSU?

NFL – Maybe It Was Good Cincinnati Didn’t Make the Super Bowl

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon on a complaint of misdemeanor aggravated menacing, according to court records. The complaint was filed Thursday in Ohio's Hamilton County. This would have been a huge mess for the Bengals if they had reached the Super Bowl this season.

  • Michigan State vs. Rutgers - 12:00 PM (FOX)

Top Betting System

NBA – Trail Blazers vs. Wizards (-3.5)

Washington has won and covered six in a row and faces Portland who is also playing well on a 4-1 SU and ATS move.

For this Friday encounter, Play On February favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points off two or more consecutive road wins. Clubs like the Wizards are 28-8 ATS the past four years in this spot, winning by 11.7 PPG.

Out the Door

NBA – Giannis Is Unstoppable

Over his last six games, Giannis Antetokounmpo has averaged 40.2 points and 14.5 rebounds. In his last 11 trips to the court, he’s scored 50 or more points three times.

After scoring 50 last Sunday, Antetokounmpo ordered 50 chicken nuggets at a Chick-fil-A drive-through the next day. When asked about what he would do after scoring 54 he said, “Tomorrow (Friday) I think I'm going to go to Culver's,”. He continued, “I'll go get 50 cheeseburgers and try to eat as many as I can. The rest, I'll have my son eat them or I give them to my dog."

NCAAB – Hot Friday Night Action

Tonight on ESPN2 at 07:00 PM EST, VCU is at St. Louis and the winner takes over first place by themselves. At last look, St. Louis was a three-point favorite and the teams are 4-4 SU and ATS when playing near the Mississippi River.

Two hours later in the MAC on ESPNU, another fight for the top spot with Kent State at Akron. Both are 8-1 in the MAC and this confrontation is a Pick according to the NCAAB odds. The Under is 14-4 when they meet in Akron.

Super Bowl – How Is This Possible?

Super Bowl Fodder – There Will Be More
  • Kansas City is 8-11 ATS on the season. They are the 6th team to reach the Super Bowl with a losing ATS record. And the previous five teams went 1-4 SU and 1-4 ATS in the Super Bowl. (Thanks to @ESPNStatsInfo)
  • Philadelphia is currently a -125 money-line favorite at most US betting sites over Kansas City and the favorite is 36-20 in the Super Bowl.
  • For Super Bowl 57, the Chiefs will wear white and the Eagles will wear green jerseys. For what it is worth, the team wearing white has won 15 of the last 18 big games.
  • There have been six previous quarterbacks that made the Super Bowl after leading the NFL in passing that season. Each lost the Big Game. Will Patrick Mahomes be the next victim?
  • The winning team has not trailed in the first quarter of the last dozen games.
  • The shortest touchdown was Under 1.5 yds in 6 of the 7 contests.

Who Is Right?

After splitting a pair at Philadelphia, Orlando continues their road trip to Minnesota. The Magic have not won much, yet, they have covered 8 of their last 11.

The Timberwolves have won six of eight and are 5-2-1 ATS. Minnesota opened and has stayed a 4.5-point home favorite, however, just 53% of the bets are on the T-Wolves. The money is heavy on Orlando in this matchup at over 80%. Who do you like, the Magic or Timberwolves for NBA picks?

Let’s get some winners! Have a great weekend and see you back here Monday.
