New York appears to be the anomaly in that list.

Wealthy state, 8th in health care. Yet, one of the worst for STDs.

It's like when they say Red states are more dependent on Federal funding than Blue states. It's the Blue counties in those Red states that have the high STD rates and are more dependent on Federal aid.

Clearly you have never visited Alaska, North Alabama or parts of NC and Arkansas.

Full of blacks and gays - no.

Western NC and most of the seaboard is fairly white, upper middle class or wealthy. Ditto North Alabama. Rural Arkansas is white overall - but yea still poor.

NY state as a whole is a pretty mixed demographic.
