Those poor people of Oak Brook - rich enough to live in the top suburb of Chicago where homes routinely sell for several million - but not smart enough to pass 7th grade science classes regarding electricity stored in wet batteries and freezing temps !

I love some of the stupid comments and irony in the article…having your car picked up on a flat bed and carted around looking for a charging station - yea, that will save us all Greta. “I’m hoping Elon can help us out some here” - yea - again dream on - dude makes millions off your stupidity and has repeatedly screwed you - lowering prices to entice new buyers in a sales slump killing value of sold units - pulling back “lifetime” options sold once a car changes hands once and basically turning his cars into bricks of they feel you modded it in any way - claiming they have the right to do so under their agreements.

Only thing dumber than a Tesla owner is a Rivian owner - why pay 75k for a overhyped Tesla when you can pay 125k for a Rivian with less support available !!

Thoughts and prayers out to the poor Tesla owners of Oak Brook….we will recover from this setback #oakbrookstrong - pray for oakbrook

i had a diesel yrs ago boy what a pain it was when the temp drop under 30, i had to plug the thing up to start

Never really got the appeal of diesel - at least in half ton pickups for example.

Ram continues to make their stupid eco diesel 1500 and I just don’t get it at all - hey, let’s make truck that cost MORE to fill up than a gasser, cost 3x more to change the oil on and breaks down more frequently than our gasser (items 1 and 3 were tough to do - but Ram managed it) and charge 7-9k more for the privilege of driving one.

It gets no better economy and pulls no more than a gas - the main advantage of a diesel truck. Somehow - I see the people who moved out of these buying Rivian and Cybertrucks. More damn $$ than brains - buy whatever has the fanciest brochure and is setting on a dealer showroom - or better yet what isn’t because it’s “high demand” according to some article in a magazine owned by the manufacturer.

Guess I’m just an ignorant boomer - but hey, it’s 8 degrees here and my truck started with no problem this morning.

Keep voting based on party and you’re gonna lose.

Stay independent ! Quit blindly voting for the person you trust more or against the person/party you dislike - it’s as simple as that.

Right now they just want to focus you in on hating “the other guy” - that way your eye is off what they are doing to screw you over. Classic distraction technique - if you’re focused on one thing - you ignore the other.

What a total clusterfu¢k the electric car thing has become

Funny - I once had an Amish man tell me the same thing - at least about their electric bikes/scooters.

Not those exact words of course - but in their parlance that’s basically what he said.

And to those unaware - many in the Amish community are allowed to use e-bikes/scooters. They absolutely love them for convenience of getting around. Cheaper than a horse and easier to park . It’s not uncommon to see them zipping around back as country roads at night on a scooter or pulling a wagon with their e-bikes. Absolutely crazy (and amazing there aren’t more serious crashes - a buggy at least gives you some protection from a car doing 55 as they top a hill only to discover an Amish on the narrow berm doing 5 MPH). Amazing people - but their views on transportation I just don’t get.

I would like to know why Elon and Tesla are not commenting about their POS cars and the cold weather. What a massive design flaw.

Combine this publicity with Hertz dumping 20,000 Telsas off their system due to high repair costs and weak demand makes you wonder if EVs have a chance to survive without some new breakthroughs in technology.

We shouldn't complain about EVs though. The more people that buy them, the less gasoline demand which makes it cheaper for those of us who will be using it forever. I'm never going electric. Hybrid like Sammy said --> Maybe. But no way for EVs for me.

Elon comments on nothing because he only likes to talk when he is “winning”.

Hertz - well they just made a bad bet and it backfired - so they are walking away from it.

Yes - they lost their ass on these - but how did they expect to make money to begin with renting a Tesla that cost them 70k for 1/2 to 1/3 of what they rent a regular car for ? Their deal with Tesla required them to rent to Tesla owners for around $20-25 a day - go in and rent a regular car - it’s 3x that. Yes - they got preferred pricing on the Tesla and tax incentives - and it made them look good to the tree huggers and liberals for adopting EV into the fleet - but why weren’t the Big 3 offering them THEIR hybrids and EVs at a discount ? Because they did to want to sell them to Hertz. Tesla needed to dump a ton of cars to meet production numbers and keep investors happy. They did and Hertz gladly helped them - in turn now that Tesla had to cut prices and dump cars to make sales numbers a year later - they killed the value of Hertz fleet at resale and are propping themselves up with increased parts pricing.

i wonder how the postal electric trucks are doing in the cold parts of our country now
Mail takes 2-3 weeks now to go across town with good weather. I can only imagine the postal EVs will only add to the problem in cold weather.

They've got to come up with something better on EVs (longer range, longer battery life, overcome cold weather issues, more charging stations, etc...) for them to be considered successful.

Good summary of what happened. (y)
