Pitt @ Colorado 3:10 ET
Starters:
Little bit of a risk taking Urena (COL) today over Keller (PIT). Urena (2.66 ERA) has only started 2 games this year for the Rockies after being cast off from the Brewers bullpen in April. In those starts, he's been pretty solid against decent teams (SD, LAD). Keller (4.88 ERA) meanwhile has been a workman for the Pirates but not has not been able to crack 4.5 ERA yet this season.
Suprisingly, Urena, with only 2 starts has the best starting pitcher stats for the Rockies.
Batting:
Both teams have been doing well of late but the Rockies have been doing VERY WELL.
COL: WRC+ 120, OPS 0.839, 0.303 AVG (over last 7 days).
PIT: WRC+ 105, OPS 0.731, 0.244 AVG
Relievers:
PIT has a slight edge on relief pitching. 4.24 ERA vs COL at 4.79 ERA.
What we'll see over these lasts few days before All-Star break is the use of some starters (if necessary) in relief roles. Since they will be off for several days, I think teams will cash in on them more if their pen is used up or not performing well.
Misc:
Colorado avg runs/gm has gone through the roof over the last few games. PIT has been pretty flat recently.
COL: 10.3 rpg (last 3)
PIT: 2.7 rpg
Colorado has the 8th best home record: 27-22
PIT has the 8th worst road record: 18-30
Colorado is on a 4 game win streak.
Pirates have lost 3 in a row.
Colorado ML -126
Good luck today.
