My selection is on Cincinnati +1.5 runs over San Diego at 9:40 pm et on Tuesday.

The Reds are reeling, losers of seven games in a row, including the opener of this series last night. I do expect them to bounce back on Tuesday but we'll grab the insurance run given the reasonable price that's being offered here. Note that Cincinnati is 14-10 when listed as a road underdog priced between +125 and +175 (which is the current moneyline price at the time of writing) going back to last season, outscoring opponents by 1.0 runs on average in that situation.

Meanwhile, the Padres are just 24-29 when coming off two wins in their last three games over the same stretch, outscored by an average margin of 0.4 runs in that spot. The bullpens are a virtual wash given their performance in the early going this season. Reds starter Reiver Sanmartin did not pitch well in his season debut after two solid late-season starts last year.

I'm confident we'll see him bounce back here. Joe Musgrove on the other hand has nowhere to go but down after allowing just two earned runs in 12 2/3 innings to open the campaign. The last time he faced the Reds he gave up five earned runs in just four innings last June. Take Cincinnati +1.5 runs.

The Cleveland Guardians will be highly motivated for a victory after getting swept by the San Francisco Giants over the weekend. They should get back in the win column in Game 1 of this series with the Chicago White Sox due to their advantage on the mound.

Ace Shane Bieber takes the ball for the Guardians. He has gone 41-18 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.111 WHIP in his career while posting a 3.60 ERA and 0.700 WHIP in two starts this season. Bieber is 5-2 with a 2.55 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in 12 career starts against the White Sox as well.

Dallas Keuchel is one of the weak links in this Chicago rotation. He went 9-9 with a 5.28 ERA and 1.531 WHIP in 30 starts last season. Kuechel is 0-1 with a 7.15 ERA in his last two starts against the Guardians while allowing 9 earned runs and 3 homers in 11 1/3 innings.

Chicago is 15-42 in its last 57 games as a road underdog. Cleveland is 36-15 in its last 51 games as a home favorite. Bet the Guardians Tuesday.

ANALYSIS: Jon Gray made his opening day start against the Blue Jays before landing on the IL with a blister. He returns today, and I wouldn’t expect him to go terribly deep, meaning the Rangers league-worst bullpen should pitch plenty of innings. The Rangers do crush lefties which worries me a bit, they are ranked second in the league in wOBA against lefties. However, the Mariners bullpen is ranked 4th in the league in ERA and they had yesterday off.

The Mariners were also very good at home last season at 46-35 while the Rangers were just 24-57 on the road. The Rangers will need to hit Ray to have a chance to win this game, because the mismatch in the bullpens is so large. I like the Mariners at home.
