Saturday MLB Free play. My selection is on Detroit +1.5 runs over Kansas City at 4:10 pm et on Saturday.

The Royals opened the season with consecutive wins but it's been all downhill from there as they've dropped five games in a row since. I look for the Tigers to add to their misery in the second game of this series on Saturday. The starting pitching matchup is virtually a wash in this one by my estimation.

You wouldn't know that by the two starters respective season debuts, however, as Matt Manning allowed just one earned run in six innings of one-hit ball against the Red Sox while Kris Bubic didn't make it out of the first inning, giving up five earned runs against the Guardians. The key here might just be the bullpens. The Tigers 'pen has posted a 2.97 ERA and 1.11 WHIP while the Royals relief corps has recorded a collective 6.21 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. I'll grab the insurance run with the visiting Tigers here. Take Detroit +1.5 runs.

I cashed the UNDER yesterday between the Tigers and Royals in a 2-1 victory by Detroit. I’m going back to the well today for some of the same reasons. These are two of the worst lineups in the American League and the forecast is going to help us cash this UNDER.

Kansas City is hitting .204 and scoring just 3.1 runs per game this season. Detroit is hitting .209 and scoring 3.4 runs per game. It’s going to be 55 degrees in Kansas City today with 12 MPH winds blowing in from left-center.

Matt Manning was sharp in his first start this season for the Tigers in holding the Red Sox to one run and one base runner in six innings of a 3-1 victory. Kris Bubic went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in three starts against the Tigers last season while allowing just 3 earned runs in 18 innings.

The UNDER is 18-7-1 in Tigers last 26 games overall. The UNDER is 22-7-1 in the last 30 meetings. The UNDER is 35-15-2 in Tigers last 52 games vs. a left-handed starter. Bet the UNDER in this game Saturday.

ANALYSIS: Until Ryu figures it out, I am not sure why he keeps commanding these massive lines. Paul Blackburn absolutely dominated the Rays throwing 5 innings while striking out 7 in his first start of the season. He faces a much tougher lineup in the Blue Jays today but they will still be without Teoscar Hernandez. The Athletics have been much better against lefties so far this season and they get another lefty in Hyun Jin Ryu today.

Ryu struggled in his first start allowing 6 ER in 3.1 IP and by keeping the game close yesterday, all the Blue Jays top relievers were forced to pitch. I think the Blue Jays will need an excellent start from Ryu in order to win this game because if he comes out early, they could be in trouble. Take the value on the As.
