Therapist seem to be drawn to the field out of their own issues/addictions.
Known a few - all of whom have had their own issues.
Not going to say they do no good - after all, if you want to know how to overcome an issue who better to ask than someone who has dealt with that issue on a more serious level and can speak from experience.
But yea - the thought of some of these people giving life advice to someone who is susceptible to taking bad life advice is just a recipe for disaster. Some poor sap comes to them in need of guidance and gets “guided” by someone with their own addictions and issues.
They always say you replace one addiction with another - and is it such a great idea to have an alcoholic guiding someone who dealing with a gambling addiction for example?
