So it’s my parents 60th wedding anniversary today

I know by the time I was in high school about 75 percent of my friends parents were divorced it seemed

Plus my dad is officially a 10-year Stage 4 Cancer Survivor this month so a lot to celebrate

The family is going to a real nice steakhouse in Central Texas this evening. Really looking forward to it

My mom could tell you the exact diagnosis but he was given a year to live Stage 4 in 2015.

I had squamous of the right lung stage 3 also given 12 months to live without chemotherapy and radiation. I could say it was hard to breathe blocking my airwaves.

@BigJay we come from the “same cut of cloth” as far as how we were brought up. Character, behavior, & qualities are very similar with a huge influence on humor. God bless our parents .

The thing is today’s generation simply doesn’t value commitment like prior generations do. They think way too much of themselves first and don’t see any reason to ever “compromise” when there’s nothing in it for them at the moment.

Of course eventually at some point you find you need someone around for whatever reason - especially as you get older. Marriage isn’t just about the present - but the future too. I might complain about my wife occasionally- but no doubt I’d be dead without her keeping me in balance.
