Sets the record. Still underpaid.

I’ll never understand why the Tigers never tried to lock him up long term.

So...are they going to trade him?

"Tigers make trade plan with Tarik Skubal after Valdez deal
"Within minutes of free agent left-hander Framber Valdez reaching agreement with the Detroit Tigers, a rival executive posed the obvious question: 'If they lose the arb to Skubal, do they trade him?'" Rosenthal reports."

Probably so.

He will be a free agent after 2026 season and could command 10 years $400 million

You're probably right. That's why they got Framber. They likely knew Skubal was getting big bucks in arbitration so they hedged with Framber and now will try to deal Skubal and his $32M contract.

They could get some decent players or a handful of prospects maybe.

Lets see which teams are still looking for star pitcher and will pay for him...
  • Astros They'll unlikely pay for him and don't have prospect to give up.
  • Toronto
  • Boston
  • ?
