Complete and total dumbass.

“It wasn’t me - it was my moms account” - like people aren’t smart enough to piece together an account held by an immediate family member placing only props on you and your team might be suspicious (evidently not as it took 2 freaking years).

Id like to blame this on on the NIL money floating around - but let’s be honest - it’s happened for some time - just never made the news unless you were Art S. In the early 80s.

Are the reports of his Profit true? Pretty amazing, if it is.

Is there any rationale to thinking that this guy had access to inside-info which gave him an edge? Sounds impossible, given the NFL hard-line on Injury Report.

I'm going to guess that the reporters may have even got his bet stats wrong. A pro athlete has a lot of money to burn. He may have just deposited a lot and bet a lot. -110 is a small-margin game. His results could be +/- just based on variance.

I will give one anecdotal story. I saw a YOUNG Packer player playing blackjack in the Green Bay high-limit room. I'm sure his game-check was more money than he'd ever seen. Guy was popping huge bets close to table-max. No strategy, he'd lose, run to the ATM, do it again, rinse and repeat. Can only imagine how much money he blew thru, had to approach $10,000 in one nite.

Look what NFL players have been suspended for previously (granted this allegedly occurred while in college - but just the fact he was caught likely means he is done in the NFL).

Calvin Ridley gets a year plus for $1500 in bets (on a game he WASNT participating in and had no effect on). Alex Karras and Paul Hornung got worse for $50-100 bets with friends (who knew they were wagering with a player).

This dumbass uses mom as his beard and bets on himself. Again - there’s a difference between betting on events outside of your league - or betting with someone who knows they are potentially at an inherent disadvantage in the wager betting with someone who is playing in the game and may have knowledge beyond the generally available intel.

What’s to stop the kid from fumbling to ensure the dog covers near the end of a game with his team in the lead late? Maybe he cuts backup QB in and gets a few extra targets late where he wouldn’t normally get them to cover a prop.

Why people will take stupid risk on their career over this stuff I will never get. And between transfers and “kids” getting 6th, 7th, 8th and now 9 years of eligibility- it will be a bigger problem. You will have ringleaders in locker rooms - ready to recruit naive kids driving sports cars funded by NIL but who ain’t got money jn their pocket for a tank of gas.
