L.A. Angels -1.5 (+100)
There are so many reasons to lay the 1.5 and play the Angels I don't know where to start. But here we go. Let's start with the fact that pitchers making debuts have not performed well this season or really ever. We saw that last night with the Cubs starter Stock who was not on his game at all. We have seen this all season. I guess I already said that. Now, let's look at Manning who has been called up due Tiger Injuries. Here is a direct quote from DetroitNews.com.
"His mid-90s fastball and two different shapes of curveballs weren’t exactly mystifying Triple-A hitters this season. They’d been hitting him at a .303 clip and slugging .598 with 11 home runs in 32.1 innings."
Manning was dominant in the lower classes of the minors but AAA Ball has not been good for him. He in fact was 1-3 with an ERA of 8.07 ERA with 11 Dingers allowed in just over 32 innings pitched. WOW. How is he going to do verses a very good Angels lineup and one that has damaged RHP to the tune of almost 6 RP9 at home and over the last 10 games regardless of the venue to 7.7 RP9? The Tigers just finished a series at KC and travel overnight to the coast while LAA makes the quick trip from Oakland. They (LAA) will start Ohtani who has been NUTS Good this season in just over 47 innings, especially at home with an ERA of just 1.85 and has the added advantage of his bat which has produced Lot's of offense. The Tigers Pen is NOT good so don't expect much "Relief" when Manning leaves. The Angels did not have their way at Oakland so we expect strong focus for this one. Pretty cut and dry for us and we do think that this one will be nice and easy. Play 3* Angels -1.5 at your best number.
