I happen to believe in some sort of after life obviously Heaven or Hell, but I would never say it’s a guarantee like most Christian’s. It’s just faith or a belief in something after our demise. I’d like to clarify with God that there’s no sinful pleasure happening in Hell and it’s all torture and smelling sulfur like the Bible says lol.

First - I agree, this is the sort of topic that leads to trouble inevitably. Religions have started more wars than any other reason in history - and at its core it’s a religious thing.

That said - having had time and reason to ponder a lot of this stuff lately / I’ll weigh in and hope we can keep it a civil discussion (because it usually goes so well).

Yea - I believe in an afterlife. Is it this place where people are floating around on clouds in human form with an old man in a beard running the place - no. How do we achieve permanency in an after life - I have no idea. There is no “absolute” good person nor an absolute evil - so for this reason I can’t see how we can be “judged”.

I also believe in reincarnation- again though not quite how they depict it in the movies. I don’t think you “recall” your prior lives. Life is energy and as we know scientifically- you can’t destroy energy - it’s a constant. When a soul leaves the body - that energy goes somewhere in the universe. Where I have no idea.

Perhaps it’s as simple as we remain until a final judgement day arrives and it all ends - at that time all are called home and the universe ends - we transfer and it all begins anew on a different level.

Perhaps you’re right and it’s truly just lights out. The only problem I have with that theory is we survive on hope - hope gives us a reason to maintain faith and continue on in the darker hours. Without hope of seeing those we have loved and lost again - we lose hope - and for that reason as a whole people must believe. For me - I’ll take hope, if I’m wrong - who’s gonna tell me differently in the end ?

First, everything is made from matter and energy.

It's a scientific fact that matter and energy can never be destroyed under any circumstances. It can only transform.

Translation: You still exist, just not in a physical form.. Where and what that existence will be.....

The ancient Greeks believed every person, man, woman, or child, that lived on earth went to Hell or Hades upon death. Every single person. They also believed that if your existence was so painful that you could drink deeply from the river in the underworld and you would be reincarnated.

Doing this, however, offered no guarantees that your new existence would be less painful than your previous one though and in the end, you ended up back in the same place you started. Hell.

The river was called Styx.
