Rocky Colavito has passed at age 91
An absolute legend in Cleveland and the day he was traded away - a generation of baseball fans revolted.
The man was immensely popular in Cleveland - especially among the large Italian American base of working class factory workers. Just a working class kid himself from NYC - he signed with the Indians at 17 and immediately found a second home.
Met him a few times - absolutely one of the 2 nicest former players I ever met (Elroy Face was the other). Intelligent, loved talking baseball with fans and beyond gracious - the game needs more players like him these days to act as ambassadors.
RIP sir - 91 is a wonderful long life - but we will
miss your presence all the same.
