Serious question Genie 🤔
How do I get my gf's pit/beagle mix (10 months old named Luna) to warm up to me? Bri tells me she's like like that with every male. Had to drag her in the elevator to do her business & she's always cowering under something to avoid me.

Aww, she's so beautiful, Doug. Did you meet her at this age already? Sometimes it takes time for them to get used to new people.

Any previous bad experiences with humans ?

It’s hard to explain sometimes - even with dogs who have been socialized as pups properly - they can have an instinctive reaction to males.

Our dogs - the Bulldog/pug is basically my baby and once she sees another male that I’m comfortable with in the house - it’s instant friendship to her.

The cavalier is scared of everyone - but the pug she is bonded with is much friendlier. Both are around 5 and lived together their entire lives to my understanding. When we adopted a year ago - no way we could split them up as the cavalier is VERY attached to the pug and makes it known she doesn’t like when they are seperated even for a brief period.

Sometimes it just takes a lot of work and establishing a routine to get a dog comfortable with you. Rewards/treats and doing the same things at the same general time can work in gaining trust.

Nope - still 100% WFH - with this role that’s 100% guaranteed.

Haven’t went into an office since 2018 - never want to do that again. Hate having someone watching me - especially as a salaried employee.
I know I’ll never work for the man again after my experience with my last boss at a job I loved for 15 years (I’ve spoken about it here before)

Had two great supervisors who left me alone and didn’t micromanage and then one came in and ruined it and in less than 18 months I bailed

That's a good thing, DJ. At least, if in the future you're going to say yes to that operation in your heart, driving is not going to be an issue.

Thanks Genie, she's cute but feisty. This is at least the 3rd time I've been over since was born in April. She started barking her head off before I even rang the bell but then doesn't make a peep the whole time I'm there besides the occasional growling if I try to move her off the bed. She basically stares at me the whole time I'm there but will get in bed with us & sleep at the foot of the bed. At this point I'm resigned to the fact this is just the way it's gonna be.
* I even think it might be better to just keep my distance considering what tragically happened to this woman when she got in her dog's face when he growled.

Wow! What a tragic. I didn't know this is even possible. Maybe it has something to do with a type of breed and the age? I don't know. I love dogs, but I don't think I have the ability to train the brave ones like pit bull or K9.

Maybe she needs another sibling with whom she can focus her attention and socialize more. Not really sure.

Did she have a previous male owner that treated her poorly? If so, maybe she sees you similarly as that previous male thinking you might treat her poorly.

It takes time to win her trust but treating her well will go a long way in doing just that.

She told me her sister's dog had a litter & she gave her this one. Who knows how her sister's husband treated her those 1st 4 months but that's all the backstory I know.

I'm 100% remote but I liked going into the office a couple days a week. I got to talk with my coworkers and see them face-to-face. Going out to lunch with them was fun too. We still meet for lunch, just once every month or two instead of every day.

This last time I was in the office wasn't so good though. We had a bunch of people who didn't have much to do so they talked for hours (not kidding) without stopping. You would think they would realize they are bothering the other people but NOOO!!

Then we had other people sit by us and get on conference calls with their phones on speaker phone. Whenever that happened and I had a meeting I would talk real loud so they would get the idea.

Keep in mind, there were empty groups of desks way over in the corner they could have sat at. But NOOO!! They had to sit right next to someone who needed to concentrate for their job who did some real work instead of just talking with their friends on the phone.
