A kid like that would’ve eventually killed himself anyway

Again - wonderful freaking insight.

Amazingly - you come into a thread with a laughing emoji about a 14 year old who committed suicide and said - “hold my beer OP - someone can one up the level of crass and bad taste”.

JFC - it’s a 14 year old kid. Yes - he likely had undiagnosed/untreated mental issues. That doesn’t mean you sit back and say “oh well - he would have killed himself anyway”.

Would you tell his parents “cheer up - it was bound to happen” ?!!?

I at least get the attempt at humor here from the story - again if he wouldn’t have committed suicide but instead did something emberassing and non-injuring it would have been funny. But logic like this..

👍 This - yes, it’s sad & tragic but, that mom seemed pretty tuned out or oblivious to what her kid was up to & doing. And now, has a lawsuit pending against the AI company.

Of course she does…..

It wasn’t the bad or neglectful parenting. Or the fact this kid had easy access to a gun. But, this is the new world we live in - always someone else’s fault…..

Sorry - I don’t find a lot funny about suicide/mental health issues.

Tragic case - just shows the programming involved in AI needs built in precautions for when someone starts talking suicide to send alerts.
It sucks that someone commits suicide but I’m going laugh if the reason in committing suicide is funny. Kid knew it wasn’t real and he was even going to a psychiatrist. Sorry, but I have no more rope (pun intended) of sympathy to give someone in this situation.
