I read today that the original $30k offered to the passengers of the Delta plane that ended up up-side-down in Toronto, was not a "final offer" nor was it a goodwill gesture by the airline.

Apparently, there are laws for international flights that required Delta to make an initial offer that was not binding (no strings attached) if you take the money and it would not prohibit anyone from suing later.

And the hits keep coming.
THis was a close call at Midway airport in Chicago this morning.

SWA plan landing and had to pull up and go around to avoid a runway collision.

I saw that

Inexcusable

Has anyone seen any research if this stuff has always been happening and never reported as importance in the past, or confirmed to have increased significantly and the timing with the DEI controversy is not coincidence?

I know that when Boeing was having problems, like the door flying off, whistleblower, etc., every little thing about a boeing plane made headlines, electrical issues, etc.

At that time they were saying these minor things (not the door, that's kind of a big thing, lol) are making headlines because of boeing's issues and that a lot of these things were always happening, at least the minor things.

Not sure about now though. I'm guessing we are just seeing it more, and that there isn't a higher incidence, but I'm not sure.

they just announced the Congress is going to hold hearings on recent plane issues.

Tough to tell whether that’s just because we’re seeing more plane issues that are already there or that they actually have some kind of data showing there are more issues.

For all we know, Congress is doing it for show.
