Clemente a worldwide icon

Not only a hall of fame baseball player but died in a plane crash providing charity/humanitarian efforts for his native Puerto Rico after a devastating earthquake

Not a big Clemente guy. Feel he was over rated.

Family sounds like pain in the ass. Guy been dead 50+ years, move on fukkers.

career .317 average, led the league in batting four times, 11 golden gloves, one MVP, 1400+ runs, 1300+ RBI, 37th all-time WAR list

pretty overrated

How many times do they need to honor the guy though ? They named a damn bridge after him.

The wall is 21 feet high in his honor.

He never played a game nor saw the current ballpark.

They sell his jersey still in the team shop and probably the best seller of a guy not named Skenes.

He was great - but they have done plenty to “honor” his name. Do you hear people crying that the Yankees are doing enough to honor Babe Ruth ? Red Sox not giving Ted Williams his due because he only gets a few mentions at Fenway ? No - because there are others from the teams history who are impactful too.

He’s held in fairly high regard - but how many mentions of the name do you need in/around the ballpark ? Have they done anything to honor recent HOF electee Dave Parker ? Maybe have a battery giveaway in his honor to show the “love” fans used to show Dave by tossing batteries at him.

I didn't know him, but this summary of his history is more than enough to know why he deserves that spot.
