Do what you can to help people out and be a decent person - but at the same time don’t worry what they think of you.

It’s meaningless - you will never change others opinions of you and trying usually will just reinforce the opinions more.

Also remember not everyone is your “friend” no matter what they say - true friends reveal themselves in time - take care of them.
