Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce is the defendant in a lawsuit filed by a gambling pal for allegedly failing to pay gambling debts.
According to TMZ, Stephen Carmona is suing Pierce $180,000 plus interest, claiming that Pierce never paid him back. Carmona said that when he hosted a poker game on January 27, Pierce asked him for $150,000 in order to play with the promise to pay back Carmona within a week. Pierce allegedly lost $140,000 that night and gave the remaining $10,000 back to Carmona at the end of the night.
That next week, Pierce allegedly didn’t pay Carmona but instead asked for another $40,000 at another poker game hosted by Carmona. Pierce allegedly was given the money and proceeded to lose it that night. And after reported “multiple requests for repayment,” that explains why Carmona is seeking $180,000.
Pierce hasn’t yet publicly responded to the lawsuit.
