I'm confident almost everyone realizes this but in case you're new to betting....
Those of you who regularly play parlays likely know that not all books offer "true odds" for the parlay bets. They take a little more off the top than they should. From what I've read, Vegas books abuse this more than offshore. I've experienced it in person at a brick and motar sportsbook. I admit up front, I've not checked on-shore books and I'm not a big parlay bettor so maybe times have changed.
If you're not sure what I mean, we have a good example today. The thread by Florida Fever is what made me think of posting on this topic. In his thread he asks about a ML parlay for two NBA games today.
The games are posted as:
76ers ML -315
Warriors ML -300
If you do the math (or plug them into numerous online parlay calculators) you'll see that the true odds for this bet is -132.17. Check out what you would get on your book. It might be -134 or -135. Sounds like a minor amount, but multiply that across thousands of bets and it adds up for the book.
BMR has a calculator that you can use to find out how much your book is taking off the top vs the "true odds".
