Horrible accident at Philly funeral as pallbearer fall into grave

So just had this pop into my feed and I have SO many questions.

Starting with who in the hell is filming a damn funeral ?

Why are you asking people who clearly cannot carry the deceased to act as pallbearers.

Why in the hell did the front 2 try walking OVER the grave

I mean how awful - but there’s a reason most funeral directors act as pallbearers bearers and help lead the procession.

And if your wondering why the hole is so big - relative to the size of a casket - remember burial requires a cement vault - so you need a box large enough to hold the casket that is also 3” thick on all sides - so you need a larger space to contain the vault.

Seems like one guy really got hurt (knocked out). Crazy stuff.
I can't imagine the trama the familiy of this individual is going through.

There will be some $ exchanged when the dust settles on this one.

Who is going to be responsible for this? Cemetery or the funeral home?
The cemetary I worked at in High School for a summer was only responsible for digging the hole. The entire setup for bringing the gasket in was furneral homes responsibility. Might be different in this case.

I'd guess the funeral home. Even if the cemetary dug the hole too big, the furneral home should have pointed it out in advance and done the proper prep to lay the supports. Looks like they just used pieces of plywood and not enough 2X6 boards underneath.

I have a few horror stories I could tell about working in the cemetary but, I'll pass on telling them.

Wow.. OMG, don't tell me you saw a ghost? Cemetery vibes always give me a different chill.

Did you have to use shovels or did you have a backhoe or something?
I wish. The backhoe was driven by the supervisor. He'd dig it out and two of us took turns jumping in the hole to "finish" it with shovels. The worst part was digging graves next to exising graves in the old part of cemetary. I'll just leave it as, the holes weren't dry when we had to finish them off. You can guess where the liquid came from.

It wasn't all bad.
If we weren't digging graves, we were mowing, weed eating, or raking.
