These prosecutors aren’t messing around

Sounds like they want to make an example out of players

Still doesn’t make sense when this hit was making over $800k

But who knows. Maybe he was in deep with the wrong people

This is going to be interesting.

Clase not saying anything - on one hand I kind of question was he involved at all this year - as had WAY too much to lose. But remember especially early in the year he struggled. He might have been tanking or might have legit been hurt and realized that big contract might not be there and decided to get paid while he could.

Ortiz makes sense - kid wasn’t getting paid superstar money - but Clase was making 4 mill a year and was due for a raise as his contract was up next year. He knew an extension was in the cards at end of this season and he had leverage.

I’m sure I could look it up - but wasn’t Clase one of those guys who took a large advance for 10% of his future salary in exchange for guaranteed cash while he was young - like Carlos Sanatana/Machado and many others did ? Clase was also involved in a “scheme” where people could invest in his future earnings by buying shares of his future income - man, imagine having bought in to that for serious $$ thinking he was a lock to get 12-15 million a year for 5 years soon.

they are both super guilty in the eyes of mlb regardless. as JJ said, careers are done. unless clase was in debt to some powerful guys, why would you even entertain this over and over. do it one and done if anything.
Another new Dominican player can say bye to their career.
