I don't think he could keep up with NIL and the changes in the system.

He'll be on a one of the pre-game shows shortly. Guy has way too much knowledge of the game not to stay involved.

He and his staff definitely got a bit lazy when they finally won the national title, after the Colt years recruiting fell off and led the the doldrums of the program of the 2010s.

I wish nothing but the best for him and his family. Class acts.

His time at Texas was wonderful for for the most part

I always liked Mack Brown. I won quite a bit on his Overs while he was at Texas. I remember thinking he was old back when they won their National Championship against USC back in 2005.

It makes sense when you say he got lazy. At his age it had to be hard to be on the recruiting trail so many months of the year.

I was really surprised when I heard UNC hired him. I figured he would play out his days as a TV announcer.

That’s not his recruiting area, but it would be easier than playing OSU, PSU, Michigan and Oregon every year. He could still row the boat in the appalachian mountains. North Carolina is a good job.
Yup and I'm guessing he'll get more NIL monies. Without a Big10 split conference he's basically irrelevant now, and IU guy with a negative SOS gonna be a hot commodity, thou PJ, for 5 years, was 1 win away from bring in the Big10 title game.

Mack was a good coach and a better person.

UNC job is again one of those spots I never understood how they didn’t have more success in football. Great campus, loads of talent and resources to compete with powerhouse schools. ACC isnt top to bottom as stacked as Big10 or SEC but still a very good Clemson and FSU along with Miami most years. You can win 9 games every year - beat 2 of those 3 and your in playoff discussion.

If I was a coach or player and my choices were NC over say Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri or Arkansas - I’d absolutely head to NC. Better chance to win and gain exposure.
