“GLAAD’s partnership with the NFL is committed to creating spaces where all fans can celebrate and to growing important visibility for LGBTQ fans at the Super Bowl and all season long,” GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement. “The third annual A Night of Pride at Super Bowl LVIII will spotlight LGBTQ leaders in sports as we work to create safe and inclusive sports environments for our community.”

GLAAD is a non-profit organization focused on LGBTQ advocacy and cultural change, which will host a conversation at the pride night - along with live music, and of course, cocktails.

“Our Third Annual A Night of Pride with GLAAD is yet another strong step to accelerating acceptance and demonstrating the NFL’s unwavering support of the LGBTQ community,” NFL Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Jonathan Beane added in a statement. “We look forward to continuing and strengthening our efforts to ensure football is for everyone.”

The action kicks off in just two weeks.

The NFL is a corporation and if you can expand your footprint into otherwise untapped markets - as a corporation you will do it.

No different than the initiatives to gain viewership outside of the US by singling out players with Hispanic heritage for example.

Personally could care less who else is watching or what/who they identify as. It’s simple - you can be a fan of a team AND have a completely different take on virtually every other aspect of life outside of your team - I don’t care. We share a common thread and agree on one thing - it’s a start.

Amazes me how many people get upset over these initiatives - because a big company is “going woke”. It’s real simple to me - they are “going woke” because they see an opportunity to make more money and you are not buying enough of their “lifestyle products”. Freaking NFL acts like the guys from KISS in thinking every damn thing you own in life needs their stamp of approval and team gear logo emblazoned on it.

The only people who should be mad are those who are being targeted. So you ignore a sector of the population for 75 years - suddenly marketing realizes the untapped spending power of a market and decides to remind us all we are all one big family. Typical family to me - you ignored them until you realized your broke and they have cash - suddenly you are all “family” and should be helping each other out (IE. You should be spending some of that free cash on my product).

Does not effect the game one bit who is watching - whether it’s TS in a luxury suite or a trans person at home. But somehow the media wants to hype if and fans are ready to talk how it “ruined” the game. Players don’t play any differently - coaches won’t change their game plans and owners won’t be any less egotistical or greedy. Nothing changed but your perception based on the media.

Still do - they learned from the NBA and MLB

Remember the NBA show on Saturday mornings in the 90s - and This Week in Baseball.

You build fan loyalty by starting young and engaging kids. Make the game kid friendly and people will continue to support you when they have $$.

Baseball just got greedy and turned people off and the NBA lost sight of this and let a few punks run off the fans with their antics. People lost interest because they couldn’t continue to relate to the sport and its stars.
