Ultra, Coors Light, Bud Light, Modelo...Busch Light might be 5 in terms of volume but neither the brewery or distributor makes any money on it.

Miller literally closing breweries they're down so much Miller Coors lowered guidance.

The funny thing is I've become fond of the 'ice in beer' style of the Caribe.

And I'm a beer purist. But it just mellow it out a bit and allows for a session of 15-20 beers

Good beer and popular beer are rarely the same thing.

Consumers overall are sheep - they will buy what the marketing leads them towards - not what their taste buds tell them is good.

Lite is absolutely horse piss to me - but so many closeted transphobic types afraid if they get caught drinking that tap water that is Bud Lite people will assume they are gay - they buy the opposite no matter how it taste.

There’s a big difference between Lite and High Life or MGD (assume they still make it) - I drank High Life (and Miller red label which I believe was dropped years ago) when I drank beer regularly 25-30 years ago. Haven’t had beer in forever - but when I rarely do it’s usually on tap at a brewery and not some pre packaged heavily marketed stuff.

Not all of it is bad - drank a few of the bigger brewer owned labels and some of its good. Fat Tire (can’t remember the company) wasn’t bad - Heineken is ok (prefer regular Amstel - but but get that here), BrewDog makes some decent stuff and Sam Adam’s the grandfather of all maintains a decent product.

But calling the most popular beer the best is like saying Coke or Pepsi are better than fine wine with a fine meal. One is designed to be served with Bug Mac’s and chicken nuggets - the other is for people who enjoy the finer things. Nothing wrong with the occasional Big Mac or Budweiser - but making it your principle diet just shows you don’t know shit about life or the finer things.
