There are 8 teams vying for WC spots. Some of these teams play each other today.
That makes only 6 games in which a team is actually playing for something today.

MIA @ PIT
TBR @ TOR
CHI @ MIL
CIN @ STL
HOU @ ARI
TEX @ SEA

Makes for betting MLB this time of year tough. Can't trust the teams in the other games to play like they will drive to win. Likely, most players just playing to pad bonus stats.

Why is the PHI/NYM postponed? bad weather again?
I think NYM in general have decided to just call it a season.

They screwed the Marlins twice this week.
  • Tuesday's game was cancelled because it rained and they did not cover the field with a tarp. If they had covered it, they could have played later. This screwed the Marlins rotation. They had their best pitcher scheduled to start that day and again on Sunday (last day of season) but that plan got screwed up and they are deep in WC chase.
  • MIA/NYM Game suspended last night in the 9th with Marlins winning.
I think the Mets and their organization just doesn't give a damn and will burn the house down so they don't have to play.

I'll step off my soap box now.

I was just about to post about the Marlins in their messed up schedule and pitching rotation.

They shouldn’t worry about rest, let the guy pitch after three days. He’s a professional after all And this is for all the marbles, or at least playoff marbles.

You only live once, Marlins.

Heritage graded my Mets play as a win, apparently they graded the game as being over after 8 innings

I took the Cubs today because they have the pitching edge not because they need this game which they really do because they are on the outside looking in now. I think Hendricks comes up big and the Cubs beat the Brewers who have nothing to play for now that they've clinched.

I played them in my MLB thread for the same reasons.
