This year's World Series averaged 9.1 million viewers across 5 games.

That makes it (by far) the least-watched World Series ever, and the past four World Series now rank as the four least-watched World Series matchups on record.

Not a great trend for MLB

I think everyone pretty much assumed that was going to be the case when these teams made it into the world series. It's not like it was a marquee matchup

Its tough when these games start at 8 pm on the East coast and you don't have an East Coast team in the World Series. I feel like they just don't pay attention to West Coast teams especially upstarts like Arizona because they're almost ready for bed halfway through the games involving these teams. If Philly and Houston had made the World Series I think the ratings would've been higher.

Baseball has been fading for a while.

Even the MLB knows it. That's why they implemented the rule changes (pitch clock, etc...) to try and hang on to fans. The MLB even changed the WS schedule so they wouldn't compete with NFL on Sundays. They know the sport is slowly fading.

NFL and Soccer are the only sports growing a lot. NBA might be but I'm not sure.
