No, it was the right time. Nothing wrong with it. Blacks grew and enjoyed, and still do, watermelon. A black dude created the pairing of chicken and waffles. It’s all about delivery of the message and why any blacks would be offended by it is beyond me. Geez, are Irish offended with cabbage and corn beef served to them on St Patrick’s Day?

I agree watermelon is great at anytime of the year, but is watermelon in season on the East Coast during February? How the hell were the serving a seasonal fruit in the month of February.

Chicken and waffles on the other hand is top notch cafeteria food.

I love corn beef/cabbage won ton noodle soup. Had a local dive joint years ago make that for me. They gave me the look in the begining but then everyone started ordering it.
