Dead heat rule can be a killer, that's for sure.

Different houses have different rules and some pay the ties with basically no rule. You will pay more, sometimes in vig, for the ability to have no dead heat.

The rules very much so matter when assessing that risk. Reducing your odds in a dead heat is a real bad idea at some level of odds.
