Clickbait headline - guy made a $25 bet during the time the child was unattended. It’s not as if he was engrossed in the game and making tons of live bets - ignoring his kid. He clicked and bet $25 on a game. Took all of a fraction of a second - but some dipshit deputy sold the info to news outlets to sensationalize a story and make a few bucks to pay for their own gambling debts.

The bet didn't have anything to really do with it. According to the article he made the bet at about 5:15 and the game didn't start till 6:30 about the time he fell in. From what I gather, he was more interested in watching the game than watching his son in the pool. He will be living with his guilt for the rest of his life
