This tournament was founded in 1971 and originally named the Quad Cities Open becoming an official event on the PGA Tour in 1972. From the year 2000 it became the John Deere Classic and played every year at TPC Deere Run. A fact worth considering is that it is played the week before the Open Championship on the PGA Tour schedule.
