Usually when I win big I give the old lady at the desk a $20.
She roots for me now.
When me and the ex used to go to Mirage a lot I used to like to spend the morning after we arrived chilling and playing the ponies.
Usually the first night was reserved for staying up late gambling and drinking so energy level was always low day two.
This one trip I got on this incredible long run. Had only one like it before. Hit like 11 of 12 winners. Or something insane like that. And was betting between $100 and $800 per wager. In all, left with close to $8k.
After about the third win, a real nice older lady who we kept going to for our wagers told me I should be getting her to rate my play. So I did.
Toward the end of our run, I asked how much more I needed to bet to get comped at the steakhouse (and they had a real nice one at the Mirage - one of those famousTV chefs spots). She said “you’re already there.” Turned around, made a phone call and made it happen.
It was probably one of the top-10 meals I’ve ever had. Easily a $500-600 comp when you factored in appetizers, etc.
I tipped her a couple of hundred bucks when I decided to leave on top after hitting a 4-to-1 for $500 on the nose. Still remember its name - Purple Barbie.
After that, I always went back and made my bets at that lady’s station every trip. And she was always there.
